| Recently nominated by the Black Theater Alliance for best actress (1997's The Sutherland), Velma Austin has also appeared in Victory Gardens' Root Causes, Hannah Free, Jelly Belly, Wipe That Smile, and The Colored Museum (for which she won a Jeff Award). She has performed in Beauty Shop, Living Room and God's Trombone at ETA, and in The Piano Lesson at ITC. She has a restaurant, Oh My Goodness, and recently made her film debut in Losing Isaiah.
