| Recently profiled in the September 1998 issue of Chicago Magazine, after being acclaimed in a number of performances including Organic Touchstone's Coming of the Hurricane (Kazarah), American Theater Company's Dead of Night, The Execution of Fred Hampton, and Pegasus' The Young Playwrights Festival, the title role in Nikki Giovanni: New Songs for a New Day at Steppenwolf, City Lit's Coffee Will Make You Black (earning her a Black Theatre Alliance award for best lead actress in a comedy/drama), and the Chicago Theatre Company's The Death of the Black Jesus, Train is Comin', and Lady Day at the Emerson Bar and Grill. This DePaul Theatre School graduate is one of the Steppenwolf's New Plays Lab Playwrights, and was HealthWorks Theatre's 1997 playwright-in-residence.
