| Former NU student left Northwestern after her Junior year to join the pre-Broadway company of the Frank Galati-directed musical "Ragtime" (as understudy to Broadway sensation Audra McDonald). After playing Nala in the Disney musical "The Lion King," the Trinidad native won a Tony Award for "Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical" for her role in "Aida." While a student, she performed at the Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre, in "Dreamgirls" and "The World Goes Round." Though she hasn't graduated yet, she intends to complete her degree eventually. Says former professor Dominic Missimi, "Of all the people I've encountered in my career as a teacher... I would put her at the top of my list of people most likely to have a major, major career."
