Established in 1988, this not-for-profit professional theatre company performs affordable and imaginative live theatre in the Edgewater neighborhood. The group which started in a factory loft in Logan Square, moved to the 135-seat Calo Theater in July 1992. The company performs two mainstage works a year, and hosts productions by other companies, as well. Griffin PG is a children's theater.
Notable works by Griffin include The Art of Success, Women and Wallace, The Downside, Brilliant Traces, Loving Little Egypt, Riding the Dolphin, The Wild Swans and Independence. Griffin won a Jeff Citation for Outstanding Ensemble in 1992 for Independence, and 1994's Riding the Dolphin got one for Outstanding Lead Actress.
