Ensemble as collective founded in 1992 focuses on the works of one playwright a year. In its first season, it won Joseph Jefferson awards in sound design and ensemble. Past performances include Halfway Content, An Interest in Strangers, Xenogensis, Machinal, Exit the King, Dogtown, Procelain, Pains of Youth, Green Air, Bold Girls, Darkside, The Napoleonade, and A Summer's Day.
Says PerformInk, "Eclipse, even when not completely successful, as with Exit the King and Pains of Youth, remained interesting, focused and well crafted. Their best shows, Dogtown and Porcelain, were stunners."
Back Stage's Jonathan Abarbanel says "Chicago theatre continues to thrive because it continues to reinvent itself with young troupes like Eclipse, which do not choose to play it safe."
