Charna Halpern

Charna Halpern has been teaching performers how to work together for more than 25 years. Having founded the world famous ImprovOlympic Theatres in Chicago and Hollywood, Charna's theatres are the meccas of training in the art of improvisation and acts as a "recruiting" stop for television shows like Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Mad TV , supplying Hollywood with writers and performers.

Her first book, which she co-wrote with her late partner Del Close, acts as a guide for teaching and performing improvisation to theatres and groups across the world. Specializing in creating a group mind with hilarious end results, she is now sharing her secrets and skills to give businesses the creative edge they need to compete in the corporate world. And she's making them laugh as they learn.

Charna Halpern has been Director of the ImprovOlympic for over 20 years, and has led college seminars in improvisation across the country. Her experience and expertise has been in demand among professionals as well - in a partnership with Michael Douglas and Chris Bearde Productions, she directed and appeared in a pilot with Michael Douglas, Rhea Perlman and Stuart Pankin. Another unusual directorial experience shared with Del Close was an improvisational workshop of stars organized by Bill Murray and Academy Award winning director Sydney J. Pollack.

She's also written a second book called Art By Committee.
