As part of the Ogilvie Metra station's fast-food circus court, Teriyaki Tempura plays the pseudo-Japanese card, tucked away in a very tiny corner on the West side of the building. Essentially a buffet stand with stock pictures of maki rolls and tempura, it does not attempt to raise the bar on cafeteria-style Asian.
Quite literal versions of both teriyaki (chicken only) and tempura (shrimp or fish) hit the tray for under $7, while sauce aficionados can sample the "chicken combo" meal for a choice of two flavors amidst standards like orange, sesame, curry, cashew, etc., for about a buck cheaper.
Otherwise you enter the "light & vegetarian" realm, where the fried rice and udon soup crew hang out aside an eight-piece set of California rolls, all for around $5. Wash it down with some hot jasmine or green tea ($1.40) before you head to the train tracks.
Average cost: <$10
