Editorial Review of Noodle Zone

Noodle Zone manifests a split personality. This Andersonville Pan-Asian restaurant recently doubled in size by taking over the property next door. The original dining room is still a cool, dark and tastefully decorated space in which a bamboo pole bonks regularly in a misty fountain as you consume enormous platters of pad Thai and drunken noodles. The new area is a brightly hued, hip place of blonde wood and bold art where a sushi bar serves up nigiri and maki on cleverly shaped porcelain plates. The menu is the same in both rooms, so it's up to you where you want to sit. Diners tend to prefer the older room for lunch and the newer one for dinner.

The restaurant's already extensive menu has grown even larger. There are Thai and Chinese appetizers, soups and salads, and a staggering variety of entrees from all over Asia. Pads and curries from Thailand are available, as are Chinese noodle and rice dishes, Vietnamese pho, Mongolian beef and Korean chop chae. The new Japanese fare could fill a menu all by itself with its offerings of sushi, sashimi, teriyaki and udon. Beverages include an assortment of bubble teas and fresh fruit smoothies and freezes. BYOB.

Average cost: <$10
