The decor at this hotel-lobby breakfast joint makes up for its run-of-the-mill food. We'll get to the eats later, but for now imagine: You enter the lobby of Hotel Indigo and head toward the back, where Morning Glory awaits. On your way you see white, pineapple-shaped chairs and bask in the glow of orangey-pink and glowing green walls (think giant scoops of melon sorbet). When you reach the sitting area, sit back in a cushy chair covered in navy and white stripes; the furniture seems to have been salvaged from a cottage in Nantucket. The table you sit at is covered in a black-and-white photograph of starfish. The lights that brighten already cheery space are shaped like shells. Murals of sunflowers and palm-tree leaves add yet more whimsy to the room.
The aforementioned meal is of grab-breakfast-and-run variety. A small counter serves up coffee, ordinary danishes and white bread bagels alongside cartons of yogurt and bottled water and juice. The most exotic menu option is a breakfast quesadilla, the freshest is sliced bananas and strawberries. But really, who needs eggs Benedict when you're sitting beside the starfish-flanked sea?
