The title of this Gold Coast bakery is assuredly the answer to the question, "What can I do to make myself more jovial?" There are few words in our lexicon that lighten the mood quite like "cake" (except for when combined with "fruit"), and More Cupcakes recognizes that eating the dessert means pure indulgence. So why not sweeten the experience even further than sprinkles?
Cupcakes at More are separated into sweet and savory flavors. Sweet cupcakes ($3.50) include some of your run-of-the-mill classics (chocolate chip, strawberry) and some slightly obscure hits (passion fruit meringue, red velvet with cream cheese frosting), and all are decadently yet artfully crafted, either loaded with frosting or topped with ornaments or (most likely) both. But the real novelty, the serious showstopper, emits from the savory section – cupcakes with bacon. For about $4, hit up the bacon apple cinnamon or bacon brown sugar maple or the BLT cupcake. That's right; a bacon/lettuce/tomato cupcake, a concept so absurd yet so brilliant, you're really just incredibly grateful McDonald's didn't get a hold of it first.
The bakery itself feels a bit tight, and any more than 10-15 customers inside could make the situation a little cramped. But if you're lucky enough to arrive when it's mostly deserted, you'll be impressed by the bright yet minimalist interior dominated by white. It's as if the bakery was ironically trying to represent its purity when their product is oh so sinful.
