Head west to Oak Park for Indian food in an exciting atmosphere. The restaurant's name refers to the pass through the Hindu Kush mountain range, but fortunately this spot is far more accessible.
Specializing in Dumbuc Khana (cooking in a pot with steam) and Tandoori Khana (roasting over charcoal in a clay oven), the restaurant features a bevy of goat, chicken and lamb dishes. Lots of bell peppers, yogurt and spices make for flavorful concoctions. There's plenty for vegetarians to choose from also, from potatoes cooked in onion and yogurt sauce to green peas and cottage cheese cooked punjabi-style. It also offers a lunch buffet, catering and private parties, plus live entertainment on the weekends.
