For months, Printer's Row residents wondered about the storefront sign decorated with a giant hat illustration that proclaimed the sombrero would come off in 2008.
The sombrero—and sign—eventually did come off. Behind it? A tasty Mexican eatery, owned by the folks who run Hackney's (which is just a few doors down). Dios mio!
It would be unfair to call the fresh dine-in, carryout and delivery fare at Flaco’s Tacos fast food, but with prices this low—a small quesadilla will cost you just $2—and Flaco's quick prep time, it's tempting to. Delicious dishes like taco salad, grilled skirt steak burritos and chicken tortas are all available for under $7. Still hungry? Snack on Flaco's extensive selection of side dishes, including rice and beans, vegetarian tamales and nachos made with Chihuahua cheese, homemade guacamole and fresh cilantro. And there are plenty of drinks to wash your fiesta of food down with—in addition to sodas, water and a 16-ounce Horchata (rice water) drink, a few alcoholic beverages also are served, including margaritas and sangria.
The best part? Flaco's serves its tacos late into the evening and until 2 a.m. on weekends.
