Eppy's bright, spacious Loop location (don't worry, the smaller River North original still survives) might not be the deli you see in films, but all the obligatory sliced meats are available and spilling out of each sandwich. This, of course, is the most important aspect of any serious deli.
For breakfast or lunch, nothing will set you back more than $9. Breakfast is egg-centric with omelets, scrambled eggs with lox and onions and a breakfast sandwich of eggs, ham and cheese on your choice of bagel. Stuffed French toast with cream cheese and walnuts ($7.25) stands out as a unique offering. Lunch brings the typical selection of deli sandwiches like pastrami, corned beef and tuna salad, among others, ranging from $5.95 to $8.50. Several hot items not available at the River North location can be had here: spicy macaroni and cheese, turkey loaf and meat loaf.
Temperature priced soup might make a bleak and blustery Chicago winter's day a bit more bearable. Even if you can't feel your toes on the walk over. Pair it with a sandwich overflowing in pastrami and you might still lose feeling in your extremities on the way back to work, but at least you'll be full.
