You'll want to pay close attention to what you're ordering at this New York-style pizzeria. At Damenzo's, a $3 slice is more like a mini-pie, requiring two hands to keep it in an edible shape. The restaurant also mislabels its calzone as a pizza puff; you'll find this light-in-sauce, massive-in-cheese football of dough ($7) listed as a side order.
Recently the family-run Italian eatery joined hands with local Mexican neighbor Papi's; the two share a kitchen as well as a few menu items. In addition to pizzas, pastas and Italian-inspired sandwiches, Damenzo's will serve up tacos, burritos, tortas and even a few south-of-the-border rib and chicken dishes, if you ask nicely. (Papi's, however, is strictly Mexican.)
Papi's got the bulk of the seating in the deal, too. No one will stop you from ordering a slice and walking through the corridor over to the handful of booths on the other side, but Damenzo's is now decidedly a takeout-encouraged spot. Most of its after-work customers oblige, maybe pausing for a bit to check out the news on the lone TV and resting at one of four round tables.
Pie toppings are uber-standard (cheese, sausage, pepperoni, etc.); if you can't pick just one, consider the Damenzo's Special, which includes everything. There are actually almost more sizes of pies to choose from than there are toppings, starting with a one-topping 10-inch for $7.20 and jumping in two-inch intervals up to a jumbo 18-inch pie for just under $30.
