With blue "clouds" suspended from the ceiling, a faux clock tower and a caricature of a Parisian street scene on the back wall, Crepes A Latte is a whimsical take on the typical French cafe. Serving mainly — you guessed it — crepes, this
North Center spot is open early and offers a lighter alternative to the typical eggs-and-bacon brunch.
For breakfast, crepe options range from egg and cheese to the enticing crumbled blueberry muffin with vanilla bean sauce. All under $5, breakfast crepes are served with a small side of mixed fruit. For lunch, dinner or an afternoon snack, try one of the savory options ($6.75), which include avocado, tomato and cheese, baked apples with brie, smoked turkey with roasted red peppers, and chicken peanut satay. One crepe probably won't cut it as a full meal, so don't hesitate to order two — and make sure one of them is dessert. For $5.75, sweet crepes run the gamut from the traditional Nutella banana to chocolate raspberry truffle, lemon meringue, caramel apple pie and bananas foster.
As for the other half of the cafe's name, drinks like peanut butter mochas, frozen pink lemonade, green apple smoothies and marshmallow lattes fit right in with the quirky decor and fun-loving menu. Everything can be taken to go or enjoyed on the spot, where free WiFi, cell phone chargers, a fireplace, board games and a comfy couch invite visitors to stay a while.
