More than 20 types of sweet and savory crepes round out the menu at Crepe Town, near Irving Park and Sheridan in
Lakeview. From cheesecake crepes (cream cheese and cracker crumbs topped with blueberries) to caramel pina colada (pineapple, coconut ice cream and caramel sauce) to BBQ (grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, chopped onion, grilled tomato and barbecue sauce) or vegetarian Santa Fe (spinach, roasted pepper, mushroom, corn, tomato, pepper jack cheese), something is bound to please your palate.
The chicken pesto crepes ($7), with grilled chicken, Swiss cheese, tomatoes and basil with pesto sauce, especially rock. The crepes are pleasantly slightly sweet, and the cheese and basil flavors shine through in a bold, nice way. A few sprinkles of basil around the plate also make the dish look enticing.
The restaurant has about a dozen black tables with white chairs in a fun, small, cheery space that's got walls painted yellow, gray and blue-gray.
Crepe Town also offers eggs for breakfast and various appetizers, including chicken wings, onion rings, calamari and crispy shrimp with mango sauce. In addition, the pretty restaurant offers espresso, cappuccinos, lattes and mochas as well as a mix of fruity smoothies. Although many crepe restaurants are sprinkled around town, Crepe Town definitely stands out as a special one worth checking out.
