Deep-dish fanatics, prepare yourselves: Barnaby's paper-thin crust will have you switching sides. And the crispy crust isn't the only thing that has kept this place in business for nearly 40 years. The sauce is perfect and the toppings are always fresh...do yourself a favor and try the sausage version (green peppers, onions, and mushrooms are optional but strongly recommended). And while waiting in line to order and having to listen for your number over a loudspeaker can be a bit of a mood-killer, the pizza more than makes up for it.
With pizza this good, it's a wonder that Barnaby's doesn't slack off on the rest of its menu. Having mastered an impressive range of Italian and American favorites, Barnaby's is arguably the "Renaissance man" of the North Shore's pizza empire. From French fries to French onion soup, mozzarella sticks to baked mostaccioli, everything is consistently to die for. In case you're overwhelmed by the list of sandwiches (priced $6.25-$7.75), I suggest the Italian beef and the meatball parmigiana (both come with fries and coleslaw). The half-pound pub burger is another winner, char-grilled heaven on a toasted bun.
There are a few options for the health-conscious customer, like a salad with organic greens, grilled chicken and feta cheese for $6.50. But even the finest salad is a letdown when everyone else at your table is scarfing down sausage pizza. Consider yourself warned.
