On the border between Rogers Park and Evanston sits Bar-B-Que Bob's, somewhat hidden from view and barely advertised by a small sign above the window. Lucky for you, though, you won't even
need your eyes to know where Bob's is. All you need is your nose and you'll be able to smell your way from the Howard L stop, past
Buffalo Joe's down the street and through Bob's doorway to a bombardment of BBQ options. That's right, if you were worried that a place called Bar-B-Que Bob's would run short on the barbecue, well, worry no longer. That's pretty much all it offers.
And we mean that in a good way. BBQ pork, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, BBQ sandwiches, BBQ wings; if you can eat it, you can bet that Bob has already barbecued it. Lunch specials range from $4-$6 and dinners range from $6.50-$10.50. Delivery is also available.
Bar-B-Que Bob's may not be a sit-down restaurant with comfy chairs, padded booths or a musical ambience, but the food is quick, cheap and fantastic, and the space, if not dazzling, is serviceable. As a testament to the food and service, there are numerous notes spread across the three available walls from presumably satisfied customers thanking Bob for his delicious BBQ and incredibly friendly service, including a note from Elvis Presley himself and a note to Buffalo Joe's to "stop it." What "it" refers to is anyone's guess. Maybe Joe is jealous of Bob and has been prank calling him? That seems likely.
