I think I am in love! We recently ate at a “new” restaurant, “The Big Easy” in Hyde Park. Although the restaurant was nearly full, the service was prompt and our waiter was both helpful and entertaining. We ordered a variety of entrees and split them. I think everybody’s first choice was the jambalaya. The filling of meat and seafood was seasoned to perfection and the surrounding breaded chicken breast was moist inside and crispy outside. You should not miss the sweet potato fries (perfectly cooked and tastiest I have ever eaten), the fried catfish, the collard greens, the barbecued ribs and the green fried tomatoes. Almost forgot, there was complimentary cornbread and sweet potato biscuits. The desserts were amazing. The carrot cake was moist and full of flavor an there was a chocolate lover’s delight - a rich chocolate pastry covered with a frozen cream filling and a mocha/cappuccino topping. The portions were generous and aesthetically pleasing. The service was good and we were made to feel at home. The prices are very reasonable and they will be seeing a lot of us. I am in love with the Big Easy!

We ducked into Armanetti's unassuming storefront in search of BYOB wines and were astounded to find some of our favorite wine producers on the shelves--I'm talking tiny production, high quality wineries like Huber, Showket, and Ecluse, which really surprised us. Good global representation and a very fine selection of obscure (and great) sparkling wine. Knowledgeable staff; inspired wine, beer AND spirits selections all fairly priced, especially compared with Lush on Roscoe. Exceptionally clean and bright--very appealing. We'll definitely be back.

Ate there earlier tonight. Great place. Second time there. Traveled 45 minutes from Naperville to eat there. Good thing I made reservation in advance, as there was an 1 1/2 hour wait when we arrived. We had an appetizer of hot pretzel with 3 different sauces. Yummy! For dinner, I had a unique chicken sandwich and my wife had a fabulous burger. Both were tasty! We shared a beer sampler, 6 glasses, of the Lucky Monk's home brew(s). We enjoyed all 6, as they were different ! We finished our meal with dessert, large homemade brownie, tasty and soft, with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. After we finished, we stayed till 10:30 PM and the restaurant, lounge, and bar were still filled with people. Our bill was fair. We plan to go back again soon !!!
