Roof top? That's' not a roof top. Appetizers were from Whole Sale food service. Deep fried. No mint for Mojtos? The only reason this place is still here is because what else is there? You don't want to go to the clubs around the neighborhood, unless you like getting a cap in your azzzz.

This place has no business being in the restaurant business. The service is disgusting. My friends had a party and our food was served to us a 15 minute intervals instead of all at once. When the first person was done eating the last person was just getting his food. The waitress was sarcastic and did not deserve her 20% gratuity which is included in the bill. So they can treat you anyway they want. If you want Italian food, go to a real Italian restaurant. Definitely pass this one up. It's not worth the aggravation.

Terrible! This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a bar/restaurant. Not only did they loose our reservation AFTER WE CHECKED IN they we rude to us throughout the evening. We had to wait 90 minutes for a table for which we had a reservation. The service was consistently slow, our food was mediocre and our drinks were often empty. We couldn't wait to get out of there!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this place. I go all the time they know me. I've been going since Feb/March 2007. I love the staff. Love Love Love. Jeff and Lou are GREAT. The chicken lasagna is delicious, as well as the salads. I live nowhere near the place and i'm there once maybe twice a week usually Thursdays but often times Friday. Just know that I LOOOOOOOVE CITIZEN and hope they get to read this. Hi Steve Bill Jeff Lou.... oooooooh you know i cant spell ur name the person i'm missing (see you in April)

The atmosphere here is cool, and comfortable. They have really big booths that my friends and I always end up sitting in for hours. The food is so good, and there are always good wine pairings to go with it. Ask any of the servers for a reccommendation, because they all are really well trained on what they have to offer. This is also the only bar/restaraunt that I can think of that offers such good food until Midnight (AND they start serving at 11AM for their lunch crowd). Forget late night diners, this is high quality food for a pretty good price as well!

I went there when it was newly opened awhile ago and have never been back. It was the WORST service ever. There is obviously no training of the servers or management. Clearly, the right hand didn't know what the left was doing. To call this disorganized would be a compliment. A better word is pathetic. I would have thought to screw up a bar so bad in River North would have been impossible. However, the owners/management at Shitizen have somehow found a way.

Disorganized, Rude, Arrogant, and Lousy Service: Went there on a Saturday evening last week and got there at about 11:45pm just as they were closing up the roof. Had to wait 30 minutes as the main bar was extremely overcrowded because of this. (Word to the wise: don't go there at midnight). Would have left but had a group of friends inside. The bartenders were awful. On six different occasions, yes SIX, my friends and I were given half drank bottles of beer. It was almost a joke the end of the evening. You order a bottle of beer, and receive one full and one half consumed? Ridiculous. And when pointing this out the bartender was not apologetic in the least. I agree with the previous poster that the only thing this bar has going for it is a great patio in an underserved area, however come February I can't imagine it still being around as EVERYONE I've spoken with will not be heading back.

Worst service ever. Every employee of the bar went out of their way to make sure my group felt unwelcome. Got our drinks wrong when we ordered them, and then got mad at me when i brought it up. Dont ever go here!!!

We had a great time at Citizen!!! The food was amazing, and our server was very friendly. Almost didn't want to try it after reading the old review, but after all of my friends had great thing to say, I wanted to check it out. So happy-can't wait to go back there!!!

10) We asked for salt and pepper and they brought salt but said they didn't have any pepper 11) Ordered a chicken sandwich and it never came while my girlfriend finished her dinner in the meantime - just canceled the sandwich and went to have dinner someplace else 12) They let a homeless person come onto the patio and beg for money - there was no manager or any staff anywhere to ask her to leave 13) We saw other people on the patio had to go into the bar to get their own drinks because the waiter was nowhere to be found 14) There was no soap in dispenser in bathroom
The restaurant was not crowded so we had no idea why the service was so bad. This truly is the worst restaurant in the City of Chicago and easily the worst dining experience I have ever had. Save yourself the headache and do not ever go to this restaurant. I'm quite certain it will survive through the summer as the patio and roof top deck are nice but they will never make it through the winter and will be out of business next year. It's a shame because it has a lot of potential but it truly is an embarrassment that someone would open a restaurant in Chicago that has this poor of customer service. Do yourself a favor and never go to this restaurant!!!!
