I wish I had read these reviews before we wasted $630. It was the most underwelming experience I have had with Chicago dining. They must never get repeat customers. My advice- don't go!

Over rated. Over priced. Waited to go for 30 years. Sterile, seated so close to others to hear intimate conversations. With wine flight (also overcharged) $300 per person was our most expensive, disappointing dining experience ever. Will gladly pay for a geat dining experience. Don't waste your money.

I’ve had fine dinners in many cosmopolitan cities of the world so when my wife and I arrived for our dinner at Charlie Trotter’s we were anticipating a glorious evening of dining, service, atmosphere in our own backyard on our anniversary. We were both very disappointed in nearly every aspect of the evening except the desserts. Don’t get me wrong, it was apparent that a lot of thought had gone into the selections and preparation of the plates but it all fell flat in each course. However, that dessert course was fabulous, decadent morsels that covered a wide variety of flavors and style. It was a perfect finish to an otherwise anticlimactic multi-course dinner. My advice would be to skip Trotters, have supper at another of the many fine dining establishments in Chicago then possibly indulge in a specialty dessert bar for a fraction of the price.

Charlie Trotters....simply the most disappointing dining experience that we have ever had. Portions are bite sized and this was OK, because I didn't need any more than that. The food was not good. What a disappointment.

My wife and I dined at CT in june of 1963. My one regret is the fact it is not in Boston. A true one of kind experience. Criticism of the cost reveals ignorance of value! WGL

Overpriced, overhypped. If I had the spare change I would try it again, because I am a foodie. But it doesn't quite fit my taste buds (dried truffle with a most meal -- yuk!), lo' carb.
Spellman was a fantastic wine purveyor (he's moved on). Charlie and his wife were v. nice, fun to talk to.

BOY OH BOY!!! I was lucky I made it to the bathroom by dessert. I still feel sorry for the washroom attendant, and the mess I left him. I feared for my life on the hour and a half ride home, and needed to stop six times. I vow never to have the confit again.

Quite frankly, Trotter's is the best restaaurant in the world--and the prices are fantastic!
