Chico's music hit my heart, and I was so lucky to have had that live. And so lucky to have hung out with him and spend down time. Now that he's gone--at just 46--I wish I would have told him that stronger the last time I saw him. Bless Chico, Halsted, the Mines and Michael Coleman for giving me the opportunity of meeting Chico. I'll admire and appreciate you forever Chico. Bless your soul in heaven. Love, Donna

I had the pleasure of seeing Chico play with Koko Taylor in Ohio. His guitar licks had me burning up inside. Talk about a sensual player. He's all I can think about. What a talent!

Chico is the man. If you want to see the living, fire-breathing, hard working, red-blooded and restless Chicago style in action, see Chico. Stick around, he tends to really cut it loose in later sets.
If you're looking for some stale old-school rehash, stay home and go to bed early with your recordings.

I have mixed feelings about Chico: He's an extremely skilled player, and can, when he wishes, play blues as well as anyone. He always gives a good show. I just wonder why he insists on playing playing so many dissonant notes when he gets into his more modern playing. It seems as if he wants to play jazz, but doesn't have the discipline to learn all the principles, and so, just reverts into 'weird' playing instead. Well, his audiences seem to love it, so I guess he won't be changing soon.

I was lucky enough to see Chico performing with the Jimmy Johnson Band at the Conilhac (France) festival in November. His playing and especially his facial expressions was pure BB King who I have seen at the Gosport (UK) Festival a few years ago and was lucky enough to meet later! Chico makes his instrument sing and was noble enough to cover for a very poor performance from Eddie King on the same bill. The show also featured Mary Lane and was a fantastic showcase for established as well as upcoming blues artistes.

Bonjour, I went to the BLUES bar when I was in Chicago for my summer vacation. I really enjoyed the Chico Banks' sound there. I had the chance to see him and the Jimmy Jonhson's Blues Band in a club in Paris in december. Such a great time! Chico Banks is good, trust me!

To call this entertainment would be an abomination. If you need to be inundated by sincere, whole-hearted blues tinged with playfulness but charged with experience, then stop by Kingston Mines on Tuesdays for Chico Banks and the Candy Lickin' Men AS WELL AS Joanna Connor. Both guitarist are geniuses in the field, virtuosos, and masters of nuance, and even this is an understatement. Well-versed in "traditional" blues, Chico and his fellow musicians take risks and find backdoors in phrasing that will leave you on the verge of spiritual orgasm. You won't leave disappointed -- as a matter of fact, someone may have to drag you out. For more than two years now, his seductive style continues to lure me back, and I guarantee he'll make an addict out of you too. Blues this perceptive is dangerous, like good man you just can't shake, lovin' you can't get anywhere else, fuel to an already searing fire.

I saw Chico and his band at B.L.U.E.S on Aug 21. WOW!! So entertaining. Had the bar watching his every move, and the music was outstanding. Great Job to Chico and the boys!!

I saw Chico Banks perform last Wed 8/17/05 backing up Jimmie Johnson at Buddy Guy's Legends club. Chico is simply awesome!! What a great smile and stage presence. He has chops to burn - from traditional blues, to funk and R&B, to blistering Hendrix-like lines. This cat rocks!!! Really nice guy, too. Go see him.
