Ukrainian comfort food well prepared. Its just like mom used to make if your mom was Ukrainian (or slavic. Its all good, filling and delicious in a simple back room setting. Try the borsch hot in the winter or cold in the summer.

"La Pena Restaurant" 4412 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL
My Review: La Pena Restaurant offers delicious cuisine, tastes and sounds of Ecuador! Full dinners are pentiful. Try the combo platter of sizzling chicken, sausage, beef, pork over rice (but be prepared to take home a doggie bag) or the succlent talipia laced with a delicate creamy coconut sauce. Afterwards sip on a refreshing mojito and listen to the sounds of a 3-man Ecuadorian troupe playing authentic sounds with eight different instruments. One complete satisfying evening at a very affordable price!

This is a great place - well worth the taxi ride from downtown! The people are SO friendly and the food is FRESH and HOMEMADE and wonderful. The portions are just perfect and it is not at all expensive. The food is similar to polish but not exactly.
