Drab, Expensive, and Tacky. The waitress was no help, our pairing was poor. Much better places to visit in the area, don't waste your time.

I had a great evening and in general I love the Abbey as a regular place to indulge wine ideas. It draws me back again and again. It has a level of authenticity and warmth - clearly a place that Hemmingway and Frank Lloyd Wright would enjoy in their home town. The Abbey's intuitive owner is charming and gorgeous and is on site.

This is a great place for wine virgins, too. They present the options with a great wine intelligence and no judgements. The menu changes but it is always fabulous.

An extraordinary venue for so many reasons - wine respectfully and simply served, exciting light cuisine and world class paintings by Nick Bridge that crystalize the experience of flying through Lower Wacker Drive. And this art should be singled out. It is probably the best collection of monumental oil painting in the western 'burbs. ArtWineFood allfabulous.

I didn't knoew why until I read Mrs. X's review, and unfourtunatly she is correct, the Abbey has undergone a change. My experience before was very nice, but this time was very bad. We ordered a hummus plate that was almost tasteless, after waiting a considerable time on a slow night. On a positive note the wine selection has gotten cheaper. I'll go back, just might eat a bite before I leave next time.

OMG! What a dissapointment. Chef Mike has left the Abbey and the new food leaves much to be desired. What a shame!! It's still a fun place to hang out, but we miss the tenderloin and his properly cooked scallops.

This place could be such a THING in Oak Park. The food is simply amazing. Chef Mike creates the most unique dishes, his newest being Scallops with Saffron Peppers, simply to die for with the Fume Blanc. The waitstaff has it's moments, avoid the owners disinterested daughter. No place is perfect, and it's come such a long way. This is a rising star in Oak Park, keep your eye on them!!

Let me just say "WOW". GREAT food. Good service. Attractive wait staff. And an owner who makes you feel like you are simply in her living room sampling some great wine.

Yes - there are some items which are pricey - but there are also items you can pick out which are not pricey.

Live Jazz on the w/ends to boot and outdoor cafe dining!

Try it folks - you'll enjoy!

This place definitely deserves a chance. We really need places like this in Oak Park and I think this will become a neighborhood jewel if we allow it. The wines are great - the food has oh so improved from opening night - and the staff and owner are very friendly and more importantly open to suggestion. Check out their special activities from wine tastings to movie nights (Sideways). Ms Winslow - don't be such a spoiler!

Not being a sophisticate like Ms. Winslow, I enjoyed my evening at the Abbey. The staff is young but sincere, I did not see any dirty glasses nor did I think the glasses were small. Oh wait - they were wine glasses; no wonder they were different. I guess if you're a longtime resident of OPRF (whatever that is), you expect to be surrounded by your like rather than those of us from the wasteland outside. So please do travel to some other venue, Ms. Winslow; those of us who simply enjoy an glass of wine and a convivial atmosphere will find it at the Oak Park Abbey.
