A meal worth a standing ovation for Michael. Cassoulet appetizer and caesar salad were delicious. Duck/hen combo and chateaubriand were perfection. Little extra touches with each meal, surprising flavor combinations, beautifully plated dishes..and save room for dessert if you can. Service is impeccable. A wonderful evening. Hat's off.

second trip here...very uncrowded friday night. so why pack the few who showed into one far section so that i'm seated on a banquette facing a table of 4 listening to their entire conversation and watching them eat? plenty of room for everyone to be spread out..so this made no sense. Food, however, is fabuloso. We two had the duck and the halibut and both were moist, cooked to perfection and beautifully served. Escargot and corn soup appetizers were great. Chocolate souffle, superb for dessert. It's still one of the ugliest restaurants..no ambiance to save Michael's life. And carefully read the charges for splitting meals as the people at the table we faced were NOT happy.Don't think it'll be a romantic atmosphere..they shouldve hired the Winnetka Grill designers as this place looks like a pancake house..but the food? delish.

A Saturday night with reservations, waited crammed into a tiny section near the door on top of diners and rolling carts. Restaurants need to figure out where to put people they make wait for their table. Waitstaff bumped into coatcheck girl, she into someone whose position I still can't figure out, everyone heading out of or in to the kitchen bumped into someone or something. Food is wonderful. Perfection. Atmosphere is not conducive to a romantic evening out, it's too bright, too noisy, and the decor isn't great. Contrary to promo pieces, Michael does visit SOME tables at random and shares a drink with friends..again, go for the food, not the atmosphere.

Dined at Michael on a Thursday night. Party of 4. The place was full at 7:30. The food was very well prepared, with the puff pastry around the dover sole flaky and perfectly complementing the delicate fish. Others enjoyed the guinea hen, and venison. Prices were moderate considering the quality. Dinner for 4 (including a modest Chardonnay) $ 250 (inc. tax and tip)
