My family and I just moved from SD and we thought the festival was fantastic the whole way thru. Just another opportunity to let our kids be apart of their culture. The food, vendors, kids stage, music, and people were grest. Anyone who complains just takes life to serious.

My Niece an I attended the africa festivals on sept,4 and pay 15.00 each why on the website it says 5, 10, and 30 for a weekend pass where we riped off by the staff? I don't think I will be attending this festival anymore.

It is a lot of fun and if you like to buy Real African products there are many and reasonable. The only problem was this rude woman in the food line. She was upset because they did not cook her chicken wings fast enought. She rant and raved and used many 4 letter words. I have to give it to the young girl that was serving her. If it would have been me I would have threw the hot chicken wigs at her and said take these you "B". Other than that it is great. I will go again from Miami in 2009. I hope they have a good line up of entertainment.

GO! it's worth it. Get a weekend pass, that way you can be there the entire weekend. The food, the music, the vendors, the energy of the people!!! and plenty of Chicago's finest on hand! It's the city, it's the last of summer, enjoy being out and enjoying the CITY! I have been a vendor, and visitor for the past 15 years!

I think ms SASHA don't have the $15 because for this kind of event to go on is a root type festival. If she think all the other fest don't have the same problem something is worry they don't have or never had a shotting or a fright, and if she is worry about plastic bottles, food plates, and chicken bones on lawn when she sit then sit at one of the four food tents or one of the 30 beaches that cook county place there so if she don't have the $15 then email me I will give it to you. This is the biges African Festival in the US.

Rachelle Farrell, Fertile Ground, Les Nubians, and Kool & the Gang all were there in 2008! It was worth every penny and more to be in a safe, comfortable environment with so many top notch acts. I can't wait to see what this season brings!

I think $15 (at gate) is too expensive for this kind of local park festival. So many other park festivals in Chicago are free and better quality. You have to avoid plastic bottles and food plates to walk. Watch out chicken bones and garbage at lawn when you sit. Very filthy.

So I emailed the organization and asked what is $15 is for. The answer was "Lollapalooza at grant park is $85/day."

Is this a joke? They compare to world class outdoor concert.(I think Lollapalooza's $85 is worth it) Too funny .....speechless. They don't even know how to answer.
