I went to Kampai over 10 years ago and I'm still craving the egg yolk sauce, that' what brought me to this website!

Hands down, this is my favorite restaurant of all-time. The food is incredible and the remodeled restaurant is cozy and welcoming. I always look forward to Kampai and I always leave with a smile on my face. This place doesn't compare to anything in the Chicagoland area!!!! It's THE BEST!!!!!!!!!

I have been going to Kampai most of my life and love it. The sushi is DELIGHTFULLY TASTEFUL! And the entires are mouthwatering. The cooks put on a show for you too. It is a lot of fun and my family loves it there. If you are planing on going make sure you bring your appetite. Everything looks good.

I love Kampai. I go there as often as I can. Everything that they prepair taste wonderful and looks amazing. The entertanment through out the preparation of dinner is enjoyable. They also serve the best tasting sushi I have ever had!

I love this place! I cannot speak to the sushi either, but it is the best steak house around -- much better than the Benni Hanas of the world. The best part is the spicy garlic sauce which is like the creamy egg yolk sauce but loaded with garlic and pinch of something spicy - red pepper I think! You can have it top the shrimp or lobster. You gotta love garlic to get it because you'll be craving it for weeks afterwards! And that's what keeps bringing my husband and I coming back at least once a month! Teppan scallops and the teryaki chicken are also good and my husband loves the Kobe filet!

I cannot speak to the sushi here, since I've never had it, but, to present the other side -- the steakhouse fare is OFF THE CHAIN. You must, must try this place, especially with so few independent japanese steakhouses around. If you get a meat/lobster entree, order it with the egg-butter side. I know that might sound a little strange at first, the creamy-richness is out of control.

I really like Kampai. Way better than the commercial versions of this type of place. You need to be a fun table for the cooks to get wild. So...go and BE fun and you'll fun:)

Kampai served some of the worst sushi I have had in a long time. The rice was over spiced to the point of being unappetizing. The sauces that were used for various sushi’s left an unappealing taste in your mouth. The atmosphere felt cold and unsanitary partially due to the overhead spotlights circling the bar that shone inches from the ceiling. The waiter was nice but the sushi chefs had very little interaction with those at the bar. The only positive thing that I walked away with was a small bill – not because the food was inexpensive but because I couldn’t eat much because of the flavor. I would never go back and certainly would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This was the most disappointing dinner I have ever had at a restaurant. The food was very bland and very overpriced. The manager wasn't a pleasant person and the so called show which I thought was supposed to be the "draw" was less than mediocre. I would never reccommend nor return to this restaurant.
