Meiji has a nice ambiance, and the sushi was excellent. However, the tables are too close together. It felt like I was part of the next party. If you like good, fresh sushi in close quarters, this is the place for you!

after looking on the chicago website, we decide to try this restaurant, we were really glad that we did, the food was great and the waiter was very helpful and made several great suggestions. Our nest trip to chicago we are sure that we will be back.

Meiji is a wonderful restaurant - I love that they have small plates of cooked dishes, such as pork katsu in a broth with onions and egg (sort of a rice-less donburi), braised hamachi cheek, and little skewers of ground chicken kabobs (three, each with its own delicious sauce). The hostess and server were both very friendly, and the decor is serene.

The food at Meiji was extremely fresh and delicious, however, I would not go back due to the extremely offensive waiter. The wait staff is snobby, elitest, and simply rude.

Meiji has the potential to be the Best Japanese restaurant in this city—the quality of the food is that good, but you can’t call a restaurant “The Best” if you are debating over leaving the place because your waiter has a severely bad attitude--this is quite an injustice to the Chef.
