DO NOT CALL Viva Chicago a Mexican Festival. It is a Latino Festival. Celebrating all Latino's. To call it a Mexican Festival is irresponsible!!!!

Thanks for the Parades Mr. Mayor!
I am dumbfounded by the decision of our "Hispanic" Community Aldermen, Committeemen, Civic Leaders and Business Community to accept the City's poor choice of dates (Sept. 11,) on which to hold parades celebrating La Independencia de Mexico.
I am proud of my Mexican heritage and with great pride proclaim that I am AMERICAN of Mexican descent. Yet, I find it hard to understand why we Mexicanos (the silent majority on many an Election Day throughout the years) are left to parade city streets celebrating our Independence Day on Sept. 11. rather than on the Independence Day weekend of Sept. 17 & 18.
Mr. Mayor, maybe you are not aware of the fact that we registered and voting Mexicanos regard Sept. 11, as a National Day of Remembrance. It is an insult to Americans and the Mexican Community of our beautiful City as a whole to ask us to go quietly into the night.
Maybe Mr. Mayor I'll just pour the first drink on the floor in honor of our fellow American Homies before I start partying this Sept. 11 / "Mexican Independence Day" weekend. Hay Que Raza!!!!!
SLANTE' Mayor
