I have to agree with all posaters here. Before we moved back to Chicago we stayed at this place while looking for a home. We reserved 7 full nights it was like Mon-Sun night. It came Sunday morning and they called us to tell us we had to check out. I said we have a reservation through Sunday and our check out was for Monday Morning. After 2 hours of dealing with nobodys i finally get a manager (I think) He also says we had to check out. I said ok, then let me get another room and i will pay whatever, his response... Sorry we have a Big convention and we are booked. They screwed up our reservation and because they overbooked we were out on the street. Nice huh??? The Management stinks. We did end up at the Hilton and Towers and told them our story and they felt so bad they actually discounted a room for us to stay the night (not kididng) and also said they hear stories like that all the time. Stay away from the Allerton, stay far away!!!

After reading some of these reviews I have to wonder if they were written by employees instead of guests. Our 3 day/3 night stay was miserable from the beginning. Besides the smelly halls, and unfriendly desk clerk- we were given a room that did not accomodate all six of us. We were charged for accomadations for six but given only accomodations for four. When our final bill came we were astounded with the charge of $210.00 per night in January!!! We paid the bill but our lawyer is already working on getting satisfaction for us.

This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had! I booked a New Year's Eve package--including champagne and breakfast--through the Allerton's website. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that our reservation was not for a package, but instead a regular rate. We then went through four different people who all decided that "maybe" we could fix the problem later. Not one employee took responsibility to fix this issue. While we finally got our breakfast tickets, we never received the champagne or strawberries we were supposed to--and we couldn't even bring our own to the room because there was a $50 "corkage fee" for each bottle of alcohol brought into the hotel rooms. Alcohol, by the way, that we had ALREADY PAID FOR. The manager said that "maybe" we can get champagne the next time we come there. As if we actually would go again.

I can't imagine having had a worse hotel experience. They lost my reservation. I was then put in the wrong room type -- not once -- but two times in a row. When I did finally get the right room, I then realized they had lost my bags. And what bothered me most was that it was not so much that they had actually lost my bags, but that they had never bothered to call the bellhop besides my specific requests and their assurances that they were on their way. 1 hour later I found them still stitting where I left them with the bellhop. I stayed for 4 days and the problems continued -- but my favorite was the suprise $700 charge they put on my credit card one month later -- a charge no one at the hotel is able to justify. Their prices are cheap but there is a reason why.

After booking a room through Orbitz for the Allerton Crowne Plaza (for 3 adults) my daugters and I were told we would be shoved in a room with ONE bed. THIS was AFTER waiting an hour and a half past check-in for our room to be "ready". We asked if we could have a cot and were told no, do to the room size. When we got to our room we found the bathroom light not working and NO bath towels! We phoned the front desk to request 3 bath towels and someone to come repair the light. An hour later someone came up with TWO towels and no one EVER came to fix the light. If you like showering and using the bathroom in the dark, and SHARING bath towels, AND having one of your party sleep on the floor......this is the place for you!! After several letters of complaint, I have gotten no satisfaction from this establishement and will NOT return. Do NOT expect quality treatment from this hotel if you book online with a "discount" hotel broker!!
