Golden Olympic is a hidden gem in Evanston: affordable classic diner food! This is a locals' hangout--lots of families and couples, old & young. Poached eggs are perfectly cooked, hash browns are crisp, omelets are fluffy and generously proportioned. There are 1000 diners similar in Chicago, but only one in beautiful downtown Evanston! The coffee is lackluster--have the fresh oj, and get your jolt next door at Peet's.

This is just a decent American diner. Its greek heritage is questionable. While there are a few greek entres listed in the menu, they are not good. I would rate this a 5 on a 10 pt scale. For more authentic greek food, I would recommend the greek island restaurant in Chicago.
