I was born and raised in Chicago. I was “fortunate” to escape in my 20’s. Now twenty year’s later I still gauge the world by my Chicago experiences. Since leaving, I’ve spent from thirty day’s to six years in the following countries; Japan, Korea, Philippines, Guam, Australia, Kuwait, Saudi, Bahrain and Germany. When I’m not working, I look for record shops and unusual music. Other than Amoeba in Hollywood, Rasputin near Berkley, and a little shop in Venice Italy, Chicago has the best records shops on the planet! Right now I’m in Tx. When it comes to a variety of music, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi and Dallas are virtual dry wells. Texas radio plays what ever is popular on both side of the border. SAT does have a shop called CD Exchange (actually there are several stores across the city). When I don’t order music on line, I order from the CD Exchange on I-10 and Medical. They have a manager that seems to know everything in audio. Other CD Exchange managers seem to be mindless clones of radio drab. When away from Chicago, NPR is my window to new music. When I do return, I always visit the record shops. It’s nothing to walk into a shop and hear something fresh. Don’t complain. You’ve got it made. See you at the checkout counter next summer! P.S. Look up a Japanese band called Soul Finger Five. I saw them open for Flaming Lips in Tokyo.

People that work there are all cool guys, friendly, helpful. They all make you feel valued and aren't anywhere near as music snobby as Reckless, however their records are a little pricey...they have some awesome records though...a selection like no other in Chicago. If you're looking for that rare gem to add to your collection and don't mind paying market price for such Gem I suggest you check 'em out.
