Concert of Thursday 5/3/07 Conductor Kent Nagano. No review found in the Sun Times. The concert was centered around Brahms' Deutsches Requiem. However, 4 pieces by a living German composer named Rihm were interspresed between sections of the Requiem. These 4 short pieces, played by themselved, might have been quet listenable, but they destroyed completely my enjoyment of the Brahms Requiem, one of my very most loved pieces of music. Just when the Requiem's section ended on a highly emotional note the Rihm section interfered and destroyed whatever was so beautiful before. What happened to your regular classical music critic? She was always there when we needed her. Hank R. Schwab
