The book cellar is a great addition to Lincoln Square. While a smallish store, they've got an especially interesting selection of books on hand. It's a good, quiet place to sit and read and the staff is helpful and friendly. The only negative thing about the place is their espresso. I don't know what they manage to do to it, but it might as well be water. Opt for a glass of wine, or their drip coffe instead.

The roast beef sandwich the summary describes is as perfect as a Raymond Chandler novel on a rainy Sunday afternoon -- this is not the bookstore to go to when you're looking for a specific work. But if you just want something to read, want to wander the shelves and see what grabs you, and then crack the spine over a wonderful roast beef sandwich, this is the perfect spot.
