When people post, can you please know what you are talking about? When you say he knows the Primanti family... good for him. If he got their blessing it doesn't mean anything but kind words. Why? Because the Primanti Brothers haven't owned the store since the 70s. He would have to have the blessing of the Patrinos family for it to make a difference. That being said... f it. Imitation is the best form of flattery right? If you watch their WGN interview he says that it was created in Pittsburgh. Btw, Im from the Burgh so deal with it. I do want to wear a Primantis T-Shirt and go get on the wall of fame at Lucky's. That would be sweet.

I was fortunate to eat at Lucky's in July of 2009 and found this to be one experience worth the the time spent locating the sandwich shop. The atmosphere was second to none in regard to the many pictures and nostalgic info located on the walls. The service was great and in the final frame the sandwich was worth the wait. I have never entertained myself with a sandwich , salad and fries all located on one platter together. The quality was really good and the time you spend here is worth every second. Great food, atmosphere and service. All this comes from a Tennessee boy who loves food and knows how it is suppose to taste. EXCELLENT

This is the most ridiculous conversation ever. Just to let you know I live in FL and there is a sandwich shop 5 min from my house that serves this same exact sandwich too. So who cares who invented it, or what city started it, because the bottom line is I shouldn't have to fly out of state for such a delicious sandwich anyway. Why should only Pittsburg get such a great sandwich? Also, no restaurant that wants to serve this sandwich should have to give credit to the Primanti Bros. What are you guys, like 12, get over it. Oh, and I will be in Chicago for the first time ever this summer and am looking forward to trying this sandwich at Lucky's, it looked amazing when i saw it on "Man vs Food". I am also looking forward to trying a true Chicago deep dish and chicago hot dog.

I second that, Tommy. Mike got Primanti's blessing to bring the sandwich to Chicago as long as he didn't leverage the Primanti name in his promotions. He is a Pittsburgh native who knows the Primanti family - better than all of the people on this site who are so quick to jump to conclusions. I can speak for a lot of people when I say am glad he brought this sandwich to Chicago!

The owner gives full credit to Primanti's and actually got their blessing to open up a shop in Chicago, with their style of sandwich. The only condition was that he would not use the Primanti name anywhere. Makes total sense, as he is a Pittsburgh native. It's a Chicago original as it's the first and only one in the Windy city.

I think the argument here is that this Lucky's place is a carbon copy of Primanti Bros. IT IS IDENTICAL TO WHAT PRIMANTI'S HAS BEEN DOING FOR 75 YEARS. Every detail is the same; the mostly dry cole slaw, the thinly sliced tomatoes, the limp undercooked french fries with the skin still on, the thick sliced italian bread, and the egg option, which, by the way, was always available at Primanti Bros. Lucky's didn't make any changes at all, they just copied the Primanti's sandwich wholesale.

Well then anyone serving Chicago Style Hotdogs should admit they stole the idea... and Chicago style pizza.... In fact really ALL pizza in the US was stolen from Lombardo's... just as All Hamburgers were stolen from Louis Lunch in New Haven...
Ok, so now hopefully idiots like Eric and Melissa and some of the other mouthbreathers posting on here realize what a STUPID ARGUMENT this is... Were they the original inventor of the sandwich? No... Did Portillo's invent the Chicago Style Hotdog? Did Hackney's invent Hamburger? NO!
There is no copyrighting food, You idiots. ALL restaurants have take the culinary invention of another and used it on their menu... Nachos, Hamburgers, Buffalo Wings, CObb Salad... THEY ALL WERE INVENTED AT ONE PLACE AND HAVE SPREAD ALL OVER THE COUNTRY!
Now if the guy is saying he created it... ABSOLUTELY, SMACK HIM DOWN. However, if he is making a similar sandwich (and there are some small differences... the Egg cap was never an option I remember at Primanti Bros) then WHO CARES... otherwise, you hypocrites need to start protesting EVERY restaurant in the world who serves hamburgers... because they "ripped off" Louis Lunch in New Haven CT.
Now that being said... of the two, Primanti makes the better sandwich... their Steak sandwich is the best I have ever had.

I wouldn't care so much if they at least gave credit to Primanti's and didn't call them "Pittsburgh-style" sandwiches. I'm guessing if they did that, they would have some copyright issues. Either way, Mike Feczko should be ashamed of himself, as he basically stole a great idea, and had to go to Chicago to open his shop so no one would notice he ripped off Primanti's. At least give them credit Mike! They aren't "Pittsburgh-style", they are straight up Primanti's. They are one of a kind, and Mr. Feczko is undermining the sandwiches "Almost Famous" claim. JUST TELL PEOPLE WHERE YOU GOT (STOLE) THE IDEA, MIKE!!!

Who cares about where the sandwich came from...jeez. Are we in Pitsburgh? No! We're in Chicago and Lucky's is the place to go. They've got the goods! You want your Primanti bros? Go back to Pitsburgh. Go Cubbies!
