The pieces of yellowtail and salmon sushi were sliced so thin that you could EASILY read through them, and they were so small that they didn't come close to reaching the end of the rice on BOTH sides. I have never been so offended-( I felt bad for all of the 20 year olds in the place that possiblly wouldn't know better than to think that this is what sushi is supposed to be.) So- I asked the waitress to come over, and showed her the roll and the pieces of sushi. She told me that this is the way it comes. She asked if I wanted anything else instead. I said only the check. I left and went all the way south to Mirai where I had some wonderful sushi. Mirai was the only place that I could find open (it was almost 11) but it was good- a bit expensive, but well worth it compared to the ABSOLUTE GARBAGE served at Katachi. I only hope that the owners read this, and realize that the way to stay in business is to take care of the customer, not rip him off in any possible way. If you want to serve crap, then charge accordingly, and no one will complain. This was the equivilent of fast food sushi but 100 times worse and much more expensive. Avoid it.

Just got home from my night at Katachi. Let me start by saying that I eat out every night, and I love all asian food, especially sushi. I have NEVER been to a more awful sushi place. For anyone that thinks that Katachi is a great neighborhood place with great food, forget it. Here is how it went- ordered appy's first- shumei $6.00. They served 5 tiny shumei straight out of the frozen food section at Costco. Awful even if it were $3.00. Next was Tako Su- octopus in a cucumber salad for $6.95. A tiny cup with 6 slices of cucumber with NO dressing, and 4 slivers of the fatty (usually discarded) edge of a piece of octopus. Not only did the octopus fat not smell right, but when I asked the waitress for some vinegar dressing for the cucumbers, she gave me a dirty look. Next came the basic miso soup, except this came with the waitress bringing the bowl to me with her thumb inside the bowl, Next was the gomae. Again, a tiny cup of spinach with a sauce that was inedible. On to the sushi. This is where it got really interesting. I ordered a rainbow roll, 2 pieces of salmon sushi and 2 pieces of hamachi sushi. I swear to you when I tell you that the roll was the thickness of a quarter- it was the smallest roll I have ever seen ($11.95). To make things worse, the last 2 pieces of the roll on each end had a piece of fish on top that was not even the size of a dime. I'M OUT OF ROOM- CONTINUE ON NEXT POST
