Though I don't order a food box every week--I used to. They are too small to benefit from the bulk purchases that would make grocery items cheaper, but large enough to offer case prices on some items. This no-frills natural food store offers food boxes that help persons on a budget and persons with Link cards to afford organic produce when they buy a weekly food box. How many food coops or farmers markets offer this service to families, seniors, people with disabilities? They deliver to some addresses in Chicago and Evanston. They only sell organic produce, so no need to worry about pesticides in your fresh produce. They have greens --not just lettuce-- the best of mustard greens and kale when available. They even have turnip greens sometimes in the spring. And when you shop here, you know you are supporting a local business, not a mega-agribusiness motivated more by profits than building relationships with people. I have been a member of several food co-ops, shop at other health and natural food stores. Newleaf is still my favorite though I have to find some products I like elsewhere, or just need some grocery items that they don’t carry due to space or that larger stores are able to sell below suggested retail price, but Newleaf can’t. I have diverse tastes in food. I eat more food that grows above ground than below ground. If more people support Newleaf, maybe they will be able to expand in the future, and carry more of the products that diverse people demand.

Newleaf rocks! They have a whole bunch pf tasty stuff in one seemingly little space. Way more affordable than Whole Foods and local.

this place is a hidden jem in roger's park. the staff is super nice, and they have lots of stuff that i can't find elsewhere. check out their all-organic produce boxes, it's way better than trying to shop at whole foods...
