Love it, love it, love it.

My new favorite bar whenever I'm in the area. I met three people I hadn't seen in three years. I met a few women, all delightful.

    I'm coming back, definitely.

I don't know of any other place where you get free food during football games, cheap drinks and a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

This was a real nice place. I've been here before it was changed around and I liked it then, but now, it's so much better. I can't wait for the garden to open again for the spring.

Truly one of the best times I've had in the summer of 2007.

Well, face it, Puffers the way we knew it is gone. The best bar in Bridgeport lives on and given time it could get even better. Yes, live jazz was great there, but don't remember large crowds for those nights-these people are running a business here. It is the only place in the neighrhood to get a GUINNESS draft, sorry to say, despite the current selection of sports bars that we have. I honestly don't know that Bridgeport ever had a Irish Bar, they (past tense) were more of neighborhood hangouts, great places though! Can't deny the Sox bringing in business, good business too. Can't recall too many episodes of violence while we enjoyed the Sox. Oh, Puffer's did have a bad episode over a parking spot years ago. But get over it, drinks are good here, great bartenders, better than average selection of beers and spirits. Friendly faces can find company here.

I'm not sure why the first reviewer would be skeptical about the beer selection or teenagers hanging out here. I've been visiting the bar for years and I love the upgrades (new backyard, bean bags, machines, cleaner) because they were needed. Some people are never happy with change--it's a territorial thing. I love the Woodpecker cider and Guiness. This bar also offers a spacious walking area, the hard-to-find whiskies and some of the funniest people I've ever met. It's that type of place where you don't want to go home on a Thursday night. I guess some college kids come around on Wednesdays and it's actually nice to have something different--especially some of the women. Mitchell's is the perfect place for a beer and a shot. I recommend it.

The brothers Puffer managed to create a bar that was warm, inviting and adventurous(at least by Southside standards). Everyone felt welcome and the typical xenophobia common to many Southside bars, was suprisingly lacking. Today, Mitchell's Tap has undone what the Puffer family strove to create: Many customers will feel ill at ease at Mitchell's especially those who are older(read- over 30) , music devotees(there no longer is live jazz on Thurs. and live bands on Sat. & no more open mic too. No plans in the forseeable future for a return to live music as well. The juke box is lacking in accessible jazz & blues & acoustic musics-you need to pay for a search to find any...), artsy/boho types will find themselves inundated by more of the neighborhood sportsfan types. Mitchell's is catering more to sports fans than to those who would like a nice bar with music & ambience- why else would they put down a faux brick patio in lieu of the deck outdoors & line it with 3(count 'em) porta-potties ? Gotta capitalize on the sox fans. Mitchell's features drink specials to lure the teenybopper/cheapskate crowd-something Puffer's never had to resort to. And while the beverage selection is still outstanding, one fears that a a lack of patronage could force Mitchell's to drop many of their craft brewed beers and fine whiskies(N.B. their wines are mediocre at best). It is sad to see the tranformation of Puffer's into an average(at best) sports-oriented bar. But things change, don't they

This place is incredible. I'm sort of a beer aficionado and this was perfect. There were beers I never heard of and were outstanding. If you come here on a Monday or Sunday, you're in for a treat. There is free food for the football games and the people are incredibly friendly.

I was coming to Chicago from Kansas City for game 1 of the 2005 WSeries. I was looking for a bar with real Sox fans. Puffers was suggested and I got all that I wanted. Great beer selections and a noise level to match. If it goes to a 6th game, I plan to return!
