I had high hopes for this place because I was excited about their southern Italian menu. Not so good though......Bread/Salad/Oil - OK. Appetizer - (Calalmari) - terrible. Pasta dish - so,so. This is for people who want to sit in a nice environment and pretend to enjoy

the food is no doubt authentic, the dining room is very comfortable, La Gondola on ashland would be the king if their dining room were bigger, but via carducci is a great place to dine...

The food is all right. Some dishes are better than others. Not bad for a cozy warm neighborhood restaurant. Do not order the marinara sauce however. If this is the best Italian restaurant in Chicago, I will be moving. It is just ok. Enjoyable but nothing special.
