What a snoozefest. This place is horrid, & oddly shaped, being just a really long hallway & nothing more (trust me when I say NOTHING more). The people are pretentious like I've never seen before. Getting a drink at the bar is laughable, because not only do the posers sitting there refuse to even slightly lean so people can walk up to order, but the bartenders are snobby as can be. It wasn't until after I received my drink when I asked if one of the ingredients- Chambord -was in it as I noticed the lack of the very distinctive bottle when it was being made that I was told they don't carry it & the bartender substituted. First of all, what supposed 'high end' lounge doesn't carry Chambord? Um, kind of a staple. Secondly, I would have liked to have been asked if I wanted a substitute. Doesn't matter cuz this place is awful. I try to remind myself that it's a lounge, & the energy level isn't going to be the same as at a nightclub, but I have been to other lounges where the people aren't quite as plastic. I can't imagine spending an entire evening there- talk about pure torture. Oh & the valet took forever- I've been to way busier places with quicker service. Fulton Lounge is a nightmare.

Thanks "the kid". Based on your review I will join my graduate school reunion later in the night when they go to another venue.

I spent New Year's Eve there one year and it was awesome!! The music, the food, drinks and of course the staff were amazing. I wish they stayed open all night that would be the only thing that I would change.

After living in Europe for many years I got used to laid back but classy lounges. Upon return to Chicago I discovered that most of the classy bars & dive-bars-with-character were gone and replaced by overpriced hipster places and loud sports pubs.
The Fulton Lounge is a pleasant exception to the 'new' bars installed on the city scene. It has a continental European feel. Classy without being snotty and the great bonus --it seems to be "clique"-free! My friends...black, white, tan; poor and trust fund babies alike, have enjoyed the place. I read a reviewer said that it was a 'meet market' (and here I just thought the men in the bar were happy to see me). But seriously, it isn't that intrusive.
There are different drinks specials on different nights. The one food item on the menu is Northern Italian pizza (so it is Very Thin). It's Tasty (reminds me of old Trattoria Roma's pizza on Taylor Street way back when) but it is a little pricy compared to the pub grub people have come to expect from bars.
Walking distance from the UIC & west loop. valet available.

On weekends, this place is packed with many "beautiful" people and it is difficult to find a seat (and forget about wading up to the bar). The Fulton Lounge is at its best during the week, when the drama dies down and you get to enjoy one of the coolest bars in the city.

My experience there was not so great when I attended a Young Black Professionals event (on 6.20.06) where we were not welcome. Over the course of the evening, it was requested that our group make their regular(White) patrons feel more comfortable and less threatened even though we were just as mannerable and professional as they were. Despite the fact that a majority of their business came from our hard-earned dollars, management eventually asked us leave. Some of the FL's regular customers who learned about our treatment closed their tabs and left in protest. Please be informed that individuals in my group were involved in various professions-law, medicine, advertising, consulting, post graduate studies, real estate, banking, etc. It's a shame that in 2006, people are still stuck in the past. If you have an ounce of integrity, you will not visit nor waste your dollars.

We had heard this place was a meet market, but on Weds. night it was tame and totally chill. The drinks weren't too taxed, the waitress was a top 10 looker and the music was mod-jazza-licious.
