My family went to Bruna's for years. Literally. We had my college graduation party there. We went a few times a month. One night, a server dropped a plate of pasta on my mom. Hey , it happens... Luciano offered her a box of pasta. Dry $1.59 Farfelle you can buy at Jewel. No apology from him. He had always been rude and indifferent. Haven't gone back since. Not a way to treat anyone, let alone regulars. I'm sure the waitstaff missed us. We always tipped 25%...

This is by far my family's favorite restaurant. For years we have gone there to celebrate birthdays, engagements, graduations, etc. We have a sincere love for Luciano & his family's restaurant. While the food is always excellent and the wine is superb, the atmosphere is qauint. You feel as if you are eating a meal at home with family & friends. If you want to enjoy a dinner with friends and not feel rushed, you go here. The Silvestri's have definitely brought a feel of real Italian food to Chicago.

The evening was mediocre (sub-par foods, unmerited pricing) until we went to pay our bill. Then, the fireworks hit. We were in a larger party (seven), and we asked to split the bill between three credit cards and cash. We notated each part to be paid on the credit card, on the bill, and on cocktail napkins. We were told to go to the bar where our waiter would assist us. In the process we handed him the cash and explained the situation. It took an inordinate amount of time, but everything seemed to be fine until the waiter and the owner returned and said that we were $25 short - the exact amount in cash that we handed to the waiter! We explained the situation and he responded by accusing both us and his waiter of stealing the money! His waiter said that we had never handed him any cash. The owner demanded the difference. We paid, and will never return.
I've never been treated so unprofessionally by a manager or owner.

Taylor street has gone to the dogs ever since Mategrano's departed. People who want to pay too much for mediocre crap deserve Tuscany and the other moneypits near UIC. People who cannot appreciate that there is more to Italian than Olive Garden and Leons's should stay there. Bruna's has not change one iota since I first went there in 1977. It is an oasis in a city full of overpriced wannabe pseudo-Paisan cuisine. I am not Italian. I grew up eating Italian and Sicilian food in the kitchens and at the dining tables of schoolmates' parents and grandparents. Bruna's is like those days of long ago.

Our service was slow, food was o.k. not great. the owner was brusque and seemed to want us to eat and leave quickly, even though the room was barely filled. Women's restroom is awkwardly placed withing the dining room, near tables. Would not go back, there's too many other better choices for Italian food in the area.

I grew up on 22nd and Oakley, as I kid I always passed by the retaurants at night. I would see all the people having fun and saying how delicious their dinner was. I would promise my self that one day I will be able to taste what made them so happy. Now 13 years later, married with a baby, I told my husband that I was going to take him for a romantic Italian dining. We both loved it!! We couln't believe how delicious the dishes are and so much to choose from. My husband is a BlackHawks fan. We were amazed to see and hear all the Hawks fans get together before the game. It was like having a get together at home. You fill at home.

This is Italian. After spending years visiting Italy, we have come to love this very special Itailan place. The food, from antipasti to dessert, is exceptional and reasonably priced. But what brings us back is the atmosphere, a real Italian place that will make you feel as if you ARE at a small family place that takes us back to Italy. And the wine list...

Best Italian ristorante in the city. Superb pasta, and especially gnocchi is top-class. 10/10 quality in service and food. GO THERE!

Loved it, and totally recommend it for anyone looking for a special date that involves a bit of an adventure. My stuffed shells were the best I've ever tasted.
