Obnoxious European manager. Expensive bar, diner quality food at upscale prices. The "street people" who hover by the front door are very aggressive as both you enter and leave the place.

Worst service in Chicago! My friend and I dined after midnight on Sunday. After our appetizer, we were rushed to order. As our server walked away, I changed my mind- I wanted the burger. I approached her at the computer and she had just sent the order in. She told me it was too late to change it. I obliged and took a seat. My friend decided to try to change my order. The server told her no and told my friend to speak to the manager. The manager said we must pay for the food we orderedas the kitchen has already started making it (one minute after we ordered- I don't think so!)or he was going to call the police. At that point we said fine, bring us the bill for our drinks and appetizer and we will leave. When the police arrived, we told the nice officer what had happened. He chuckled and told the manager the situation needed to be handled between the restaurant and patron. I don't care where the management and waitstaff are from, we are in America and with such a "high-class" reportoir, I expect good service....The menu should state in bold print: "ALL ORDERS FINAL! ANY INDECISIVENESS WILL RESULT IN PROSECUTION."

Food is good but this is European service brought to Chicago. Prepare for that surly attitude and intimidating european experience because that's what you'll get here.

I take my words back about waitress Camelia and the knowledgeable staff. I was so dissapointed with the service last time i was there! Waiting staff ignored us and just continued talking among each others. I had to stand up and look for our waitress in order to make a request to our order. The staff needs more training.

This is a nice bar with a neighborhood feel. I love to go with my girlfriend and have a few drinks to wind down. The bartender is a great guy, and makes us feel welcome. There's outdoor seating for nice days and when you're in the mood to people watch. We'll keep coming back, that's for sure.

bijan's is hands down the best bistro-pub in chicago. my girlfriend and i are regulars, and can be often found trying to pretend we don't see bijan's as we make our way to whole foods (because we can't go there EVERY day!), or tearing ourselves away from the bar on our way home or to get groceries. jim is adorable and sweet and makes us, a professional and unassuming lesbian couple, feel very welcome where other upscale bars might not. he is constantly doting and witty ("try these new m&m's -- they're really big!") and always takes care of us. bijan's has everything -- the look, the ambiance, the staff. it's welcoming and keeps us coming back for more.

Was in Chicago recently from the UK and stumbled across Bijan's. Far better than many other guide book recommendations. Very friendly locals, great food(particularly the burgers) and excellent staff. On the beer front the Goose Island Honkers Ale is worth a try. Recommend to anyone vistiting Chicago, was the only tourist in the place, yet was made to feel very welcome.

Camelia is the best waitress we've ever had! Staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. Bijan is the right place to enjoy your company and meal.
