We went to Magnolia Cafe based excellent recommendations.
(1) The food was mediocre. (2) We were charged $112 two times on a $124 bill. (3) It took several days to receive our refund. (4) They included a $20 tip!
When asked if the restaurant was going to reccompense, the manager said "We have been in business for years. We already have a following".

I unreservedly recommend Magnolia Cafe as one of the best restaurants in Chicago. The cooking is exquisite, the service out standing and the wine list excellent. Each dish that made up our meal was innovative and exciting. The potato/blue cheese cakes that they served with the beef tenderloin were amazing The staff are attentive and professional. The restaurant has plenty of space for larger parties and secluded areas for folks who want some privacy.

I'm a believer, too! This place always comes through. It's a guaranteed experience from beginning to end. The food is wonderful and the staff is friendly. We always seem to get the same waiter every time we go and he's never steered us wrong with his wine suggestions! I wish I could recommend any one dish but, between the two of us, we've never had anything but the best. Any of my friends and colleagues who were lucky enough to discover the place feels the same way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

You simply must go to this wonderful restaurant. The interior is warm and welcoming. You can go wearing a pair of jeans or something more dressy. We've taken a wide variety of friends and family members and they have always felt comfortable. The staff also has a lot to do with that. They are attentive, professional and friendly. But what really keeps us coming back time after time is the amazing food. We've never been disappointed. Cas, the chef and owner, creates the most wonderful combinations. Some of our favorites - the halibut, lemon/shrimp risotto, beef tenderloin with blue cheese, and those dang quesadillas! Oh, who am I kidding, everything on the menu is fabulous.

Had an outstanding dinner with nice unusual wine selections. The dessert sorbet selection was amazing. The setting was very pleasant and the service was great. Only downside was that there weren't many other patrons and I'd hate to lose this neighborhood jewel.

You must try Magnolia Cafe. I've been there at least 20 times and every meal has been amazing. The service is great, efficient, friendly, completely on the ball. I've been with just 1 or 2 people, and as many as 12, and in all situations I've been happy to be there. The homemade ice cream is amazing. I have to say this could very well be my all-time favorite restaurant! I can't wait for their special New Year's Eve Dinner!
