Sweet Maple Cafe is my Sunday morning retreat. While there is usually a long wait, it is testament to the fact that this place is GOOD. If you go on a Sunday, ask for the blue-eyed waitress and be nice to the host and you'll be good to go.

Sweet Maple is like the best thing since sliced bread. I have been coming here since I was 16 and didnt even live here yet! I am a true southern girl and this is the best southern style breakfast you can get in Chicago. Now that I call this place home I always bring my out of town guests here...as a treat for them and a reminder of home for me. I have eaten here at least 20 times and never once gotten bad service even on the Sunday mornings when the wait was more than an hour. I still wouldn't consider myself a regular...but I can't say enough about this place.

I drove over forty five minutes to try this place out and waited for another twenty minutes for a table, it was worth the wait. I just couldn't get the taste of the golden brown potatoes out of my head, I went back the following weekend.

I have been there many times and I am an African-American (Black) woman. They are not racist. If you go any where you might get bad service sometimes. That does not mean that the owner is a sale-out. That just means that she needs to get rid of a bad waitress or two. How about we ask to speak to the manager and let them know about the service before we slander or call the owner and her restaurant bad names. This is a great restaurant with great food.

Great food, good service. Some reviews about Black/White disparity puzzles me, my family is Black and we never observed a disparity in food quality or service between Black or White customers. Lighten up and enjoy the food!

I wasn't impressed with SMC. I felt neither comfortable or welcome. The service staff was not friendly to us and once seated, we still had to wait while the service staff stoof around and talked. The food was okay, but the service was really, really lacking. I got the impression that they only cater to locals and anyone else is considered an outsider and somehow _less_

Went because of "Check Please" review. Service was good, friendly. Cornbeef hash was dry! pumpkin pancake was good. Recommend for one visit only.

This place has yummy breakfast for a great price! The service could be better but the food keeps us coming back.

Definitely one of the best breakfast joints in chicago! The food is delicious and the employees are very hospitable. I recommend the Taylor Street Omelet :)
