My advise is to read the contract before you sign it. That goes for any contract.
Xsport is a decent chain. A little expensive, but you get what they tell you you will get. I would consider going back.
My wife and I cancelled our XSport memberships. You just have to do it in writing. XSport was fine, and quick.
Back in the day I even managed to cancel my Bally's membership without any headaches. The secret is to read the contract; cancel in writing. The terms and conditions are pretty clear, even for a filthy chain like Bally's.

I joined the gym around a month ago, the gym itself is fine, but their customer service is horrible and the way the deal with their money. I didnt have that much money on my debit card so i specifically told them to charge half on my debit and half cash that i gave them. They ended up taking everything out on my debit, (it also says clearly on my contract to split the money between my debit and cash). Thus, making me pay for overdraft fees and making my credit bad. Then, when i signed of for the contract they never told me the criteria for it. They specifically said, its just a bunch of legal mumbo jambo, and so i signed it thinking its exactly that. Turns out u have to go their a minimum of 10 times and you have to meet a personal trainer withen the first 14 days. I met the requirements, but i met the trainer a little bit after the 14 days, and i had $230 go down the drain. The gym itself is nice, but unless u have a couple hundred dollers to just play around with, and your not worried about your credit, i suggest u nvr step in this gym, and go for something better like golds gym.

Sorry for the double post, I didn't think the first one took. And I forgot to add that if you wanna see changes to XSports policy complain to the Better Business Bureaus, and you can do it without using snail mail at www.bbb.org!!!

I've been going to the Downers Grover location for ~4 months now and I agree with most of the post's. I bought a set of training sessions and so far I've been through 4 trainers. I have one training session left and at this point I don't even want to use it. And everytime I get a new trainer they have to do that assesement training session, which is basically a waste of time. Not only that but when my training sessions were almost over they were pushing me to buy 30 training sessions so that I can have 3 months of free membership. Here's the kicker though the 3 free months kick in after 1 year. So, your telling me I have to put up with you guys for another year just to see a benefit from buying THIRTY training sessions. So I called to cancel the account and was told to snail mail a signed letter. SERIOUSLY... Why don't I just cancel my credit card and have you send me snail mail, which will take a month for me to process. I like Lifetime SOOOO much better. It is bigger, has more pools, the staff seems to enjoy working there, and they don't seem to push you into buying more training sessions. All together a more professional atomsphere at lifetime.

I moved to Chicago in June and joined X-Sport right away because my roommate worked out there. Coming from a Lifetime in Michigan, X-Sport was horrible compared to what I was used to. I have been bodybuilding for 6 years and the trainers there are a joke with very few exceptions. I would NOT recommend X-Sport to anyone serious about getting big- bad service, bad trainers, and too crowded. Try a smaller gym, Equinox, or even buy a Bowflex and you'll be better off.
