It feels like two angels just fell in love in my mouth.
I just tried bon bon chocolates for the first time this weekend, and I have to say that they are the best I have ever eaten. (Trust me, I have eaten a lot of chocolate.)
The packaging is kitschy and pretty, and everything about the chocolate screams quality. Best of all it's local (I live ten miles away but when you find a store like this, the travel is worth it.)
The exotic flavors are reminiscent of the high end chocolatiers in Europe, but the quality of production, innovation, and pride in their work makes bon bon stand apart from anywhere I have ever tried.
I will be definitely be trying more, and I have already promised to take my mom to visit the store when she comes to visit in the summer. I can't wait!!

To address "C Biscuit's complaint":
We are not "Bombon Bakery". We are not affliated in anyway with their bakery and are constantly confused with all of their establishments.
Before anyone asks "why the name is so similar"? Here are the reasons:
We choose the name "bon bon" since it means "confection/chocolate". We have had it registered since 1998 when I was freelancing in pastry before settling on strictly working with chocolate. When, I opened my shop I was not pleased to hear that Laura Perea chose a similar name NOT because I do not like her! She is a lovely human being! ONLY because of potential customer confusion which has and does continue to happen everyday for 6 years now.
Sorry, your cake was messed up! It is most unfortunate and I know Laura to be a respected professional in the industry. Perhaps, you should bring that up to her or her husband Luis. I can't imagine she would be pleased with her staff not addressing the situation and rectifying it. Good Luck!
Respectfully, elizabeth Owner of "bon bon"

the bon bon on 18th street in the pilsen area is run by morons. the owner is a sleazebag and the poor girls who run the front don't know the difference between a tres leches and cheesecake. they messed up my mother's birthday cake 5 years ago, with the sleazebag having the cajones to tell me i must not know what i ordered. and yesterday they informed me that the cake i was picking up wasn't ready because "there is no tart. it won't be ready till tomorrow." i'm never stepping foot in there again.

I live in Andersonville, and what a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Bon bon's chocolates are eye-catching works of art that deliver an aromatic and satisfying taste experience. As has been pointed out by other reviewers here, the price is on the high end, but I have learned over the years that I will eat less of dessert if I'm satisfied in one or two bites. If you're willing to spend $5-$7 on a slice of gourmet cheesecake but hate the guilt, let me recommend you have one of bon bon's satisfying chocolates for $1.25 instead. Your eyes, nose, and taste buds will be singing for the next half hour.

My loving adoring fiance' heard of bon bon chocolates on the radio and had some sent to me. I shared the 20 piece dark set with my teenage daughter. I can honestly say we've never tasted anything so heavenly. The combinations of flavors and the feel of the chocolate is superb. Truly worth the cost! My lovely fiance' will be receiving a box in return!

Fantastic chocolates - so delicious and meticulously made. These are very different to anything we had ever seen and our family were very impressed. I particularly liked the unusual flavours and shapes - very luxurious tin, too!

Chicago the world epicenter for chocolate? The first time I tasted Bon Bon chocolate was backstage at the House of Blues, the owner of Bon Bon had brought some by for my band Devo, and we all became instant converts. Bob Casale grabbed every loose piece he could find to take back home the next day for his family. Jerry Casale told me a day ago he still had the Kama Sutra pieces in his freezer, he couldn't bear to eat them. I've been turning my friends and relatives on to this company, and everyone is astonished by the creativity and just hands down best tasting stuff they've ever come across. I live in Los Angeles, but Bon Bon will overnite it packed in a cool box, and it arrives fresh every time. My daughter who we adopted from China last year will be able to say (when she learns to talk), the first chocolate that ever touched her lips was Bon Bon of Chicago. My wife and I use it as an anti-depressant, an aphrodesiac, an immune system booster, a workout enhancement, a reality distorter, a motivational tool, and just about any other excuse we can think of. We have been spoiled for life, and now judge all other chocolate by these. I think we've tried a large sampling of their creations, and our favorite is always changing. If you haven't tried this chocolate, do it! Especially if you are lucky enough to live in Chicago and are in traveling distance.

i think i have found heaven!
this quirky little shop is like the movie 'Chocolat' personified... From its gold-chic Egyptian/Mayan decor to the owner's adorable daughter, a funky pierced gal who gushed for almost half an hour about chocolate :)...i was hooked even before i sampled the product!
every piece of chocolate is a true work of art, ranging from glitter-dusted gemstones to perfectly-molded Buddhas and little pyramids!! so beautiful i literally would have been content to stare at the counter for hours.
and did the products taste as good as they looked? YES!
i wish i lived even closer, so this could be a daily ritual!

My sister-in-law introduced me to bon bon chocolates and I have been grateful ever since. I live in Texas and every time they come to visit, she and my brother bring me a box which I hoard selfishly all to myself. These chocolates are absolutely wonderful. I am thrilled to see that I can order online now and will definitely be doing so.

My boyfriend and I stumbled across Bon Bon while exploring his old neighborhood during a trip to Chicago last week. We live in Boston. These are the most amazing chocolates I have ever seen and I plan on buying more from the web site. I have already told several people about the chocolate, both in Chicago and Boston. The daughter of the owner waited on us and was very informative, extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Everyone should definitely try this place.
