Shake rattle & read is the best book/music store ever. The history of the store is matched only by the history of music it contains. Each time I visit , it's like going back in time. Being a musician, I find tons of old records as well as reading material, & the owner Ric is cool !! My conversation with him contained a wealth of information and history. Shake, Rattle & Read is THE ONLY book store I could hang out at. I plan to shop there more often! I hope S,R & R Book Box stays in business forever. It is a part of Chicago history & the only one of it's kind. Rodney Gamble - Funk Lab Recording Studios

I've been to the cellar and talk about ghosts in the closet! You can almost smell Al Capone sweating a raid by the Coppers. Ric has done a fantastic job these last twenty years except the vintage pornagraphy thing, you'd think a 50 something guy would have grown up by now and had gotten married but when Marg Helgenberger dis' you I gues it's all down hill from there. The one thing I'd change is the musty decor to something a little more sanitary like the clean fresh scent of a newly mopped floor. No wonder you can still smell Al Capones ghost. I love ya Ric, Keep up the good work and get your bowling game back. Your little bro.
