Being an Irishman I can tell you this bar rivals many of the bars in Dublin Ireland. Friendly service, good food and a hugevariety of beers.

I love the smoked salmon BLT! Great location, great atmosphere---I've never had a bad time here.

The Grafton is one of the many fine taverns / restaurants that make Lincoln Square a wonderful place to live, work, and hang out. The food is top notch, and as a friend once said, you can sleep in that serving of fries. Service has never been anything less than friendly and spot-on, and the booze selection is great. I dare you to resist ordering yet another drink from the tall, mysterious waitress--she can hypnotize you.
The only time to really avoid the Graf, or any place in the Squa', is when BLT is playing. They can take an otherwise wonderful place and make it pretty stinky.
It might seem like a non sequitur, but BLT *is* listed as an attraction here, so I thought I would give the warning.

Great drinks, good environment, sub-par food. Sandwiches tend to feel rushed, dry, with barely a perfunctory amount of toppings and sides.

You must try the seafood chowder! It is the best! Friendly staff and big enough for everyone to exist together - people wanting to hear live music, people wanting to play cards, or those who just want to eat, drink and be merry.
