I just was at the Walnut Room and it was great. All the food is always good, but I always get the chicken pot pie. The tree this year will be special, Martha Stewart is decorating it.

I went to the walnut roon for breakfast yesterday with my family and we were extremely disapointed. The service was good, i will say that but the food was terrible. The pancake meal (8 dollars and change) has panackes the same size as the kids meal, they do not taste like anything, it was like a soft cracker with syrup. That wouldve been ok if it wasant cold, not even warm, cold. The bacon was rubbery and cold as well. This meal couldnt have screamed we took it off a pan and threw it on a plate any better. I was expecting more especially since i can go to mcdonalds and get better and a larger amount of food for the same amount.

I was expected more! But The food was good and cold, had roast with carrots. But my friend had to wait like 45 minutes for her drink. -It was on the house though. Our waitor threw a fit because they were offering hoilday cups, while my friend got one, I also wanted one. I was just wondering how to get one,so my friend asked how to get one. he Rudley said they dont come for free.( I guess u have to order from the hoilday menu) i didnt know! We order a root beer and coke, that was flat as a board. i would give this classic restaurnt one star. The best part was the big x-mas tree, and even that wasnt all at all cracked up to be.

I am 67 years old and the last time I was in the Walnut Room was when I was in grade school. My Aunt who is now 92 years old took my sister and me into Chicago to see the Christmas tree. We sat next to the base. It was awesome. Unfortuneatly I didn't feel well and I threw up under the tree. My Aunt threw her napkin on it and said come on lets go. She did tell the waitress. This is a very odd remembrance of Marshall Fields but It brings me great memories of my Aunt taking us to Chicago and she also bought us a Santa Claus Candle which I threw away last year. When I was there today it made me think of my Aunt (only living relative of my dad) and what a wonderful day it was.
Thank you Marshal Fields.

Took the waitress's recommendations and had the Peach Nest w/chicken and, of course, the Frango Mint pie. Wonderful service and experience.

The service was POOR even though there were no more than three or four other occupied in the entire dining room. Afternoon tea was a HUGE disappointment.

Holiday dining in the Walnut Room is a real Chicago treat! Sadly, the guy working the reception desk the day after Thanksgiving 2005 was obnoxious and very, very, rude! We will stay away for at least a few years rather than relive that experience.
