The Village North is the best theater in chicago because its the cheapest, and the people who work there are like real people instead of stank teenagers who don't know how to act. It does have bums there occasionally who are given enough free popcorn to bath in, but thats just to keep the yuppies out, and heck, both of those things are what being a real human being is all about. First rate movies, cool crowd, great location (by the beach and some good restaurants) Loyola College hotties around. 3 thumbs up.

This theatre has undergone extraordinairy changes in recent years. This place used to be referred to as the "ghetto plex," and rightfully so. Not anymore. The prices are reasonable, and there has been a conscious effort to make the place look and feel more appealing to the public. It's a neighborhood theatre, so you know you'll get a unique experience each and every time. I prefer my small scale theatre, with a great Thai place next door any day over the over-priced megaplex. At least at the Village North, the customers are seen as individuals, with lives and stories to tell...not just a sale.

My kids and I have been going to Village North for about 3 years now. I have always had a pleasant experience. The ticket price can't be beat (5.00) - and the concessions are more than reasonable. This is a fantastic neighborhood theatre.

This is a great theatre. I recommend everyone give this theatre a try. For the discount price, the movies are first rate. Why go to the cineplex when one can watch the same movie at the Village North. Sure, the theatre may be small in size, and the acoustics may not have the same sound effects as a cineplex, but who cares, a movie is a movie. The intimate setting is great, and the people who work and the people who patranize the theatre are friendly.
Oh, I just remembered, try to bring a flashlight with you to the theatre, so as to see what might be on the seat, before sitting. Just advice from a personal experience.

Village Entertainment is one of the most pathetic excuses for a theater chain I have ever seen. It's a complete joke. They just don't seem to care.

i was glad to write this review about the village north . i live on the southside in south shore for 50+years.i've been to a lot of theater in my life time but the village is my favorite.i recently started to date again and the village north is me and my girl theater.we love driving up north for dinner and then a show ,never had no problem.don't hate people participate and make it better.don't bring the drama leave it at home.

This theatre is at its best a true urban icon. Interesting place, I live nearby and is in walking distance. Has a cushy, personal feeling, but unfortunately I have seen homeless people sleeping inside the theatres. I have also noticed more in the recent years a thuggish looking crowd, that usually hang around the entrance area, especially during the evening and nighttime hours. I believe their should be a more noticable presence of CPD officers. Security is very lax.

This theatre is great. Cheap and old school. I have had an occasion when it was loud but that was me and my friends and we were the only ones in the theatre.

Too many thugs. A lot of loud talking (profanity). I don't feel safe. Other then that I like it because it is very convenient because I live in the neighborhood.
